The selection process for Defense Civilian posts involves several stages, each designed to assess different aspects of a candidate's suitability for the role. The specific stages involved vary depending on the post. Here's a closer look at each stage: 1. Online Application and Shortlisting Candidates must submit their applications exclusively online. No offline applications will be accepted. Applicants must register online using OTP-based authentication via mobile and email ID. The application window remains open for 21 days from the date the online application is made available on the web application. Candidates are strongly advised to apply well in advance of the deadline to avoid potential issues due to heavy internet traffic or website load. Following the application period, a system-based shortlisting process restricts the number of candidates progressing to the next stage. Shortlisting is determined by the candidate's marks in the minimum educational qualification required for the specific post. The minimum shortlisting ratio varies depending on the post: 1:50 (vacancy: admitted candidates) per post for each category for positions like Material Assistant, Tele Operator Grade-II, and MTS. 1:75 per post for each category for positions like Junior Office Assistant (JOA), Civil Motor Driver (OG), Carpenter and Joiner, Painter and Decorator, Fireman, and Tradesman Mate. This higher ratio is applied to positions that involve a skill or physical/endurance test before the written examination. 2. Skill/Physical Tests (for Specific Positions) Certain posts require candidates to pass a skill or physical test before proceeding to the written examination. Skill Tests: These assess the candidate's proficiency in a particular skill required for the job: Junior Office Assistant: A typing test evaluating speed and accuracy in both English (35 words per minute) and Hindi (30 words per minute) on a computer is required. Civil Motor Driver: Candidates must undergo a driving test and answer verbal questions about the internal functioning of both heavy and light vehicles. Carpenter and Joiner: Practical assessment involves making wooden furniture with proper finishing and responding to verbal inquiries about wood types, furniture, and related topics. Painter and Decorator: A practical test involving painting wooden and iron items is conducted, along with verbal questioning about color mixing techniques. Physical/Endurance Tests: These evaluate the candidate's physical fitness and stamina, essential for demanding roles: Fireman: Candidates must meet specific physical requirements, including height (minimum 165 cm with a 2.5 cm concession for ST candidates), chest measurements (unexpanded - 81.5 cm, expanded - 85 cm), and weight (minimum 50 kg). Endurance tests include a 1.6 km run, carrying a 63.5 kg person for 183 meters, clearing a 2.7-meter wide ditch, and climbing a 3-meter vertical rope. Time limits for the run vary based on gender and ESM status. Tradesman Mate: The physical test includes a 1.5 km run and carrying a 50 kg weight for 200 meters. Time limits for these tasks vary based on gender and ESM status. 3. Written Examination All shortlisted candidates must take a written examination, regardless of whether they had to complete a skill/physical test. The written test is objective, consisting of multiple-choice questions. The exam duration is 2 hours for all positions. Candidates with visual impairments receive an additional 20 minutes per hour. Negative marking is applied, with 0.25 marks deducted for each incorrect answer. The exam syllabus is tailored to the educational qualification level associated with each post's pay level: Pay Level 1 and 2 (Matric Level Standard): The exam covers General Intelligence and Reasoning, Numeric Aptitude, General English, and General Awareness. Pay Level 2 (10+2 Level Standard) and Pay Level 5 (Graduate Level Standard): These exams include General Intelligence and Reasoning, Numeric Aptitude, General Awareness, and English Language and Comprehension. The written test is administered using Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) sheets. Candidates can find a sample OMR sheet on the web application. 4. Final Selection Candidates are ranked based on their performance in the written examination. For those positions that involved a skill/physical test, performance in these tests is also considered in the final selection. The final merit list considers the candidate's category (SC/ST/OBC/EWS/ESM/PwBD) and reservations. Vacancies reserved for PwBD and Ex-servicemen are filled first and adjusted against the respective reserved categories. The Commandant of the Army Ordnance Corps Centre, Secunderabad, as the Recruiting Authority, has the final say in all selection-related matters. Their decision regarding eligibility, candidate acceptance or rejection, penalties for false information, selection methodology, exam conduct, examination center allocation, post allocation, and unit assignments for selected candidates is final and binding.
