The selection process for Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force recruitment consists of four phases: Phase I: Candidates will first undergo the Physical Efficiency Test (PET). The PET consists of events such as races, long jump, and high jump, with different standards for male and female candidates and for different posts. Those failing to qualify at this stage will be eliminated. However, Ex-Servicemen are exempt from PET but will still be required to pass the requisite PST, Written Examination, Documentation and Medical examination Following PET, candidates will be screened for Height, Chest (for male candidates only), and Weight. Candidates whose measurements do not meet the required standards will be eliminated. There is no provision for appeal for Physical Efficiency Test (PET). Phase II: Candidates qualifying in Phase I will be issued online admit cards for a written examination. The written examination will consist of objective-type questions, including multiple-choice questions (MCQs). The pattern of the exam will vary depending on the post applied for. A minimum cut-off percentage has been set for the written examination: 35% for General/EWS/Ex-servicemen category and 33% for SC/ST/OBC/NCL category. Phase III: Candidates who qualify for the written examination will undergo verification of original documents. Testimonies of each candidate will be checked before a Detailed Medical Examination (DME). Phase IV: Merit lists will be drawn up, based on the marks obtained in the written examination and medical examination, to shortlist candidates. Shortlisted candidates will undergo a Detailed Medical Examination. In case of a tie in marks, the candidate older in age will be considered higher in merit; if the tie still persists, the candidate whose name comes first in the alphabetical order will be kept higher in the merit. Candidates declared unfit during the Detailed Medical Examination will be allowed to undergo a Review Medical Examination (RME). Finally, the decision of the ITBPF Board of Medical Officers shall be final for declaring a candidate Fit or Unfit in the DME/RME Please refer to the notification link for more details
